Orca: update1 - 04/03/03
As a last 944 Turbo project we decided to take all of the knowledge we had gained from our 2 previous street build-ups and create a race 951 from the ground up. This time we would not be starting from a streetcar and slowly transform it over time into a racecar. There would not be any compromises. Starting from a completely stripped chassis, we acid-dipped, seam-welded, roll-caged and powder coated. While this was happening, a new 3.0 liter 16 valve turbo motor was being built. While we don't want to give out all of the details, we can tell you that the intercooler is HUGE, there are 4 throttle bodies and the radiator is located in a unique location.
We threw the entire Kokeln catalog at he car; solid motor mounts, solid transmission mounts, sway bars, rear suspension kit, 993 TT brake upgrade for the rear, dual master cylinder kit, short shift kit, shift knob, rear spoiler, fiberglass roof panel and front GTR front bumper. We are also creating a few last products for the 944 line. Our new 944 Tubular Control Arms should be available April 2003. Made of 4130 chrome-moly tubing they are a third of the weight of billet arms and offer more adjustability. Testing will start in the spring. More info to some soon. |
